Hosting and collection of general information when visiting our website

Nature and purpose of the processing:

When you access our website, i. e. when you do not register or otherwise submit information, information of a general nature is collected automatically. This information (server log files) includes, for example, the type of web browser, the operating system used, the page accessed, the date and time of access, the previously visited page (referrer) and your IP address.

It is processed in particular for the following purposes:

  • Ensuring a smooth connection to the website,
  • Ensuring trouble-free use of our website,
  • Evaluating system security and stability, and
  • Optimising our website.

We do not use your data to draw conclusions about you personally.

Legal basis and legitimate interest:

The processing takes place pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR on the basis of our legitimate interest in the stability, security and functionality of our website.

Recipients:

Our website is hosted by Contabo GmbH, Aschauer Straße 32a, 81549 München. Contabo GmbH is our processor in its capacity as hosting provider. Further technical service providers may act as processors for the operation and maintenance of our website.

Storage period:

The data is erased as soon as it is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected. Server log files are erased after 14 days at the latest.

Provision required by law or contract, or necessary:

The provision of the aforementioned personal data is required neither by law nor by contract. However, without the IP address, the service and the functionality of our website cannot be guaranteed. In addition, individual services may be unavailable or restricted. For this reason, an objection is excluded.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your end device (laptop, tablet, smartphone or similar) when you visit our website.

We use technically necessary cookies on our website, which may be stored without your consent. These are the cookie “pll_language” (language selection) and the cookie “real_cookie_banner” (storing your cookie choices). We only use further technologies, namely the embedding of Google Maps, if you have given your explicit consent beforehand. We do not use any cookies for analysis, marketing or tracking purposes.

Technically necessary cookie “pll_language”

Nature and purpose of the processing:

The cookie “pll_language” stores the language you have selected or that has been detected (German or English) so that the website is displayed to you in the appropriate language. It contains only the language code.

Storage period:

12 months.

Legal basis and legitimate interest:

The storage of the cookie is permitted without consent under Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG (German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act) because it is strictly necessary to provide the language selection you have requested. The processing takes place pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR on the basis of our legitimate interest in a user-friendly design of our website.

Consent management (Real Cookie Banner)

Nature and purpose of the processing:

We use the consent tool “Real Cookie Banner” by devowl.io GmbH, Tannet 12, 94539 Grafling, Germany. It obtains your consent for optional services, blocks them until you consent, and documents your choice. For this purpose, the tool stores the cookie “real_cookie_banner” in your browser with a random identifier (UUID) and your choices. As proof of consent, our server stores the identifier, the time, your choice per service and the banner version. No data is transmitted to devowl.io; the data stays on our server.

Storage period:

The cookie is stored for 12 months. We retain consent records for as long as is necessary to fulfil our obligation to demonstrate consent.

Legal basis:

The cookie is permitted without consent under Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG because it is strictly necessary to respect your choice. The documentation is based on Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR in conjunction with Art. 7(1) GDPR (proof of consent).

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via “Change privacy settings”.

Managing and deleting cookies

You can delete individual cookies or the entire cookie inventory, or block the storage of cookies. Depending on the provider of your browser, you will find the necessary information at the following links:

Fonts

For a uniform display, we use fonts that are delivered locally from our server. When our pages are accessed, no connection is established to servers of Google or other providers for this purpose. The only exception is the map on our contact page, which is loaded only after your consent (see “Google Maps”).

Google Maps

Nature and purpose of the processing:

On our contact page, we embed a map from Google Maps to show you our location and directions. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”). The map is only loaded once you consent to the “Google Maps” service. Before that, no connection to Google is established. After your consent, your browser transmits your IP address and browser and device information to Google, and Google may store cookies (e.g. “NID”, “AEC”) on your device. Google may evaluate your usage behaviour and link the data to your Google account if you are signed in.

Legal basis:

Your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG.

Recipients and transfer to third countries:

Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC (USA). Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision of the European Commission of 10 July 2023). By consenting, you agree to this transfer.

Storage period:

We do not store any data from Google Maps. Google determines the storage period at Google and for the cookies (approx. 6 months). More information: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Withdrawal:

You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future via “Change privacy settings”. The lawfulness of processing carried out until then remains unaffected.

Contact form and contacting us

Nature and purpose of the processing:

If you use our contact form, we process the data you enter: name, e-mail address, your enquiry (selection), your message and – voluntarily – your company. The data is used for the purpose of individual communication with you. Providing a valid e-mail address and your name is necessary so that we can assign and answer the enquiry.

The entries are transmitted by e-mail to our mailbox (info@viex.eu) and are not permanently stored in a database of this website. If you contact us by e-mail or telephone, we likewise process your details in order to handle your enquiry.

Protection against spam and misuse:

To ward off automated requests (spam), we check technically whether a request originates from a web browser on our website, screen entries for impermissible content and limit the number of requests per visitor. For this purpose, we store for no more than 24 hours an irreversible hash value (pseudonym) of your IP address, from which the IP address cannot be restored. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in protection against misuse and the security of our systems).

Legal basis:

The data is processed on the basis of a legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). By providing the contact form, we wish to enable you to contact us easily. Your details are stored for the purpose of handling the enquiry and for possible follow-up questions.

Where you contact us to request a quotation, the processing takes place for the performance of pre-contractual measures (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Recipients:

For e-mail operations we use Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online) of Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, One Microsoft Place, South County Business Park, Leopardstown, Dublin 18, Ireland, as processor. Processing of data by Microsoft in third countries (e.g. the USA) cannot be ruled out; it takes place on the basis of an adequacy decision of the EU Commission (EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework) or standard contractual clauses.

Storage period:

Data is erased no later than 6 months after the enquiry has been handled. Where a contractual relationship arises, we are subject to the statutory retention periods under the German Commercial Code (HGB) and erase your data after these periods have expired.

Provision required by law or contract, or necessary:

The provision of your personal data is voluntary. However, we can only handle your enquiry if you provide us with your name, your e-mail address and the reason for the enquiry.

Security functions (Wordfence)

To protect our website against attacks and misuse, we use the security plugin “Wordfence” of Defiant, Inc. (USA). In doing so, IP addresses and technical details of accesses (e.g. the address accessed, browser identifier) may be processed in order to detect and block malicious accesses. For this purpose, data about suspicious accesses may be transmitted to the provider’s servers in the USA. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the security of our website). The transfer to the USA takes place, where the provider is certified for this purpose, on the basis of the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and otherwise on the basis of standard contractual clauses.

SSL/TLS encryption

To protect the security of your data during transmission, we use encryption methods (TLS) over HTTPS that correspond to the current state of the art.

Information about your right to object under Art. 21 GDPR

Right to object in individual cases

You have the right, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to object at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you which is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (data processing on the basis of a balancing of interests); this also applies to profiling based on that provision within the meaning of Art. 4 no. 4 GDPR.

If you object, we will no longer process your personal data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
